samsung glyde
Hi all!

I'm new to the forum, so a quick introduction - my name's Oli, and I'm looking at buying a Samsung LE40R87BDX.
.

My question is really asking if anyone has this model, and their thoughts on it.

I'm looking at spending ?00 on an LCD HD TV, love the Samsung range (high gloss black!), but want to make sure I get the best for my money.

I'll be using the TV to watch normal TV, Freeview TV, the odd game on the PS2 / Xbox / N64 (classic!) and normal DVDs (possibly HD DVD / Blu-Ray when they're a bit cheaper...).

I'm not too fussed about the sound quality, as I'll be setting up surround sound etc, but I want to make sure the picture quality is awesome!

Cheers all, any help / tips etc will be great!

Personally if I was getting a new LCD now, I wouldn't get anything that wasn't 1080p.

You'll be glad you got 1080p when you get a PS3 and want to play 1080p games and watch Blu Ray films in 1080p :D

It makes a huge difference! :D For a few hundred quid more I would definitely go 1080p :) (you can get a 42" 1080p SHARP for around £900 ;))

If you really don't want 1080p, then the model you have chosen is a good one :D

Thanks Azz, and sorry for the late reply.

Yeah, I didn't really want to spend over about £700, so I went for the LE40R87BDX (£655 from my place of work), and I'm well chuffed! Even playing DVDs from my PS2 are spot on!

Next in line is a home cinema system, so just popping over to the other forum for suggestions ;)
