On standby my TV (LE32R74BD) creates a high pitched "whistling" noise that is very annoying. How do I fix this and should I get Samsung to repair this? I sent it back to the place I bought it from (Savastore.com - Watford Electronics) and they agreed to replace it. 1 month later, still without the TV and several phone calls later I get a verdict of no fault found and decided they would charge me ?5 Vat for "testing it". I now have the TV back which arrived in a shocking condition without my cleaning cloth or the warrenty card. Whatever you do, NEVER buy from Savastore.com - they are just simply thieves and it takes 20 odd minutes just for someone to answer the phone or 1 week for emails. You only have to google them to find out about all the unsatisfied customers and other alomst illegal activities. So, what should I do from your experiences? Do Samsung charge for a "no fault found"? It was them that told me first time to return it back to Savastore because it was less than 28 days old! I've already had to take 4 1/2 off work just to get my TV collected and returned. Do the engineers come to you at a specified time?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Something similar happened to me once but with a computer - it stopped working after two weeks or so. I wanted a new one (because like your tv it was less than 28 days old) however I was young and the man in the shop 'pursuaded' me to get it fixed. Anyway I got the computer back and a few days later it died again (it was the monitor that failed) but I spoke to my local trading standards office who told me to write a letter saying I am rejecting the goods as they are not fit for purpose and want a refund.

The shop refused but I took it to a small claims court and won the case.

I think the law stands that if the product is faulty you can 'reject' them within 28 days for such electrical devices and ask for a refund - only thing with you is you have to prove their is a fault. If the whistling is their all the time you might even be allowed to take it into court  generally the judges are in favour of the consumer so long as you can prove the retailer is at fault.

Not sure if any of this is out of date now so you might want to check with you local CAB.

How loud is the whistling sound? Can you capture it on a video cam?

I have an mp3 recorder so perhaps that might work but I don't have a video camera. The sound is variable in volume. Sometimes you can faintly hear it (but its still present) or other times you can hear the sound at the other end of the room. This is what is annoying because it keeps grabbing my attension instead of being a constant tone. I'll try phoning Samsung today to see if they can help me - i've given up on Savastore.com. Please nobody ever shop there.

Samsung sent me two enginners next business day. They were at my house for around 5 minutes. They came with a foam board, placed the tv on it and they both unscrewed the back of with electric screwdrivers in seconds. Next thing I know is they replaced the power PCB twice and although I could hear it when it was installed, I can't hear it now that it is on the wall. So I've got a result! Apparently it is something to do with vibrations from the transformers at a high frequency. It is a Joke that Savastore.com took 1 month and Samsung had it resolved the next working day.
