I just got the LE37R72B model for my living room. This is a great LCD giving high quality image, specially using HDMI (Component color mode) in 1280x720p mode, with great level of detail, vivid colors and improved resolution. .
After dealing with it a few weeks I?e found a couple of questions:
Q1 - How to effectively switch off the Dynamic Dimming and Contrast features? (Dynamic dimming in my case, make the image to increase white balance, like if the image go up and down in brightness, after a new scene, which is quite annoying effect)?
Q2 - What really Dynamic Dimming and Dynamic Contrast do? Which one of these is recommended to be switched off?
Q3 - The digital NR filter only applies to TV signals or this also applies to any external input (SCART, HDMI, Components, etc.)?
Q4 - Does the 37" model share the same S-PVA panels with 26", 32" and 40" or the old PVA panel?
Q5 - I've almost 12 dead sub-pixels together. Am I entitled to get a replacement?
Q6 ?How to get into Service Menu to switch off screen dynamics?
Thanks ------------ Hi pbarata and welcome.
I don't have the same model as you so not sure if this of any use but..
I have Dynamic contrast off on my set, you can turn it off in the Menu Options (not sure if its the same for your set). It basically adjusts the 'levels' I guess a simple way of explaining it, is it makes the darks a little darker and the lights lighter, so the difference inbetween the two is greater giving a sense of more contrast. But I prefer it off.
The room dimming option, turns the backlights down, so the screen is less 'bright', again I prefer a nice bright screen :)
Q3 - I think the DNR option is not visible for the inputs it has no effect on.
Im not sure about Q,4,5,6 although you might be able to do a search here for some of them..
Hope that helps! :) ------------ I've just learnt the correct sequence for service mode, which is:
"While the TV is in standby, press info, menu then mute and turn the TV back on."
I do understand that it's dangerous to mess with factory settings. But in my case, it was not only useful to change some factory settings (Dynamic dimming and contrast), but also I?e discovered that my LCD, which I bough 3 weeks ago, has already 700 hours. This is too much for a new model, bought directly in a major store. Also I?e found a permanent black spot which is a set of 12 dead sub-pixels. How else could I prove that store sold me probably a an exhibition model, with that many hours of working? ------------ Was the box manufacturer sealed when you got it? That's the first thing I check these days as I know some shops are not all that trustworthy! ------------ Beside different values for Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Colour and Colour Tone, what are the differences between Picture Modes (Movie, Dynamic, Standard, Custom)? ------------ I think thats it - although some might have colour warmth etc too ? ------------ I got a replacement for my "old" LE37R72B but I'm waiting for it. Meanwhile I was told that 37" model is out of prodution so I'll probably get none. Is this true?
