samsung camera

Just purchased a 32" R74. My first Samsung product.
looks fab, picture quality is fantastic. but.... the sound
.
is awful. Tinny would be an understatement.

I have tried adjusting it - no joy.

I cannot listen to this TV unless I use my external amplifier.

anyone else noticed this?

If anything lets the samsung range down it's the Audio.

External amplifier 100% of the time for me and my LE32R41

Only Samsung? I'm sorry but it is not a fault of Samsung. In my experience the sound from ALL LCD/Plasma screens, regardless of brand, is poor. Why? Because of simple physics. In CRT televisions you have the 'vast' expanse of space in the CRT 'cabinet' which allows for greater acoustics and bass-reflex. In the flat screens that space just isn't there, and so we get a basic slim-coned speaker which gives a basic sound quality.

That's one of the reasons why consumers now opt for external surround-sound systems to complement their flat screens. ;)

I agree with you Chiswick - all the LCDs I tested had similar sound, if anything the Sammy (Samsung LE32r41) had slightly better sound. As you point out, they won't match large CRT's because of the lack of room available - so they can't cram in subs or larger mid fields.

Home cinema systems are definately the way to go with LCDs! And makes for awesome movie watching and game playing :D

Absolutely right! :)

Must also add that good quality home cinema packages are quite affordable these days, and they've really come on leaps and bounds - i was well impressed with my Yamaha AV pack! (which reminds me I need to update my profile!)

What HC set up are you running Chiswick? (will have to a nosey in your profile too!)

I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you. I live in a small flat with a wife who is a compulsive aesthete (she even studied the topic at Uni' !). I don't have a 'proper' HC setup...

Therefore all I have in my living room is:
i. R74 LCD
ii. DVD-HR735
iii. mounted on a Vogels EFF1140 floor stand
iv. a 4-year old JVC micro-system (hidden away)
v. all connected up using Profigold OCC interconnectors, plus HDMI.

I was going to upload a small picture but there doesn't seem to be a facility on this forum to allow such as thing. Notwithstanding, you can have a look in this forum posting: click here (http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=31846&d=1149853185).
