Hi everyone. I bought the LE32R51BD from currys about 2
months ago. Excellent Tv except it went pop the other
morning. It was switched off from the front but still
.

.

connected to the mains. I could here a strange noise like
a hissing and then a pop which woke me up. When i went into
see what was going on, the room had filled with smoke and
the TV was making a clicking sound, like a relay on and off.
I then switched it off from the mains. A dark oily liquid
was dripping from the TV. Maybe from one of the components.
Anyway i spoke to currys and i have someone coming to
have a look on monday. What a pain.

cor blimey! hope u get a replacement soon! U never know they might give u the next model up (well we can wish can't we lol)

Currys should have really recalled your TV since it sounds like they knew there was going to be this problem. Luckly you were there to unplug it from the mains!

See: http://www.ilovesamsung.co.uk/r51-safety-recall

Oh man, that is serious.
I'm going to unplug mine every night.
Thanks for the heads up.

Had a guy look at the TV today. When i told
him what had happened he said it was probably
a blown capacitor on the power supply. He didnt need to look inside the TV. I asked him if this was a common fault, he said no. The TV has to go away for repair, going to take about 2 weeks. Like you say i'm going to unplug mine every night when i get it back.

For the last couple of weeks ive been looking into getting a new tv for my parents, like many people finding the right one means researching reviews checking them out etc...

So between me and my father we decided on a the LE32R51BD, loved the screen, picture, looks, sound all round reviews etc..

Whilst at my local Currys they said they had a call back on the model due to power problems internally and new stock was comming soon. So they did know about it.

So we got one and a samsung r120 cheap dvd recorder until the HDMI ones are up and running.

Fot it home installed, scanned analogue and freeview channels great love the thing.... then tried to record freeview cant do it....

As Ive looked around and found via your forums Im not the only one seems theres another problem.... gotta to love this customer service going bakc to the store tomorrow to sort something out will update.. as info comes in.

ciao

Riccardo

Currys have replaced my TV. They have had quite a few go faulty it seems. The DTV piture on the new set doesnt seem quite as good as it did on the old set thou. Close up images look great but distance images look bad? not blurred but some sort of digital distortion if thats what you call it?

Hi people,

Apologises for crashing this forum, been away for awhile but did write some "interesting comments" on the orginal Review for the LE32R41BD blog by Az.

Unfortunately I DID have a LE32R51BD set, but after multiple problems, I took the set back to Currys and they then told me the model is NOT being sold until further notice.
