samsung lcd tv
I have just purchased a Joytech digital VGA cable pack to hook my Xbox to my Samsung LE32R41BDX but although I get a picture I get no sound. Where the hell am I supposed to plug in the left and right RCA plugs? There are so many audio sockets in the back. I would have thought it would be the sound sockets under AV IN, but no sound when I plug there. My sockets are a little flush but I hooked up my Playstation through the AV sockets and got perfect sound. Might it just be a lead thickness problem? Would appreciate any help guys especially if you could tell me which sockets the RCA plugs should definately be going to. Cheers .
. ------------ I also just got this response from Samsung support -
Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics.
With regards your enquiry about the LE32R41BD. I can advise that the VGA
input is not digital, this is an analogue input. Component or HDMI
inputs are used for digital signal. The VGA, PC input is picture only.
I hope this has been of some assistance to you. If you do have any
further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Does this mean that the only way u can get sound using VGA is by connecting the RCA plugs to stand alone speakers which have to be purchased seperately? ------------ I was using a vga cable on my samsung box for a short while - I now use the High def component leads (testing both joytech and MS) I found the MS ones to be higher quality on the samsung, producing less of a furry edge..
If you use the PC in for your VGA adaptor you will see a small 3.5mm headphone type jack, this is a PC audio line in. so you need to convert the phono's you have to one of them and there you go, all singing and dancing! ------------ Thanx Jtype, I kinda guessed that I might need a phono adaptor but thanks for clarifying it for me, just ordered one online.
It appears that a lot of people on this forum believe that the HD component leads are better than the VGA Cable on the Samsung. As you have had both, would you advise me to change to component once supplies become more readily available, or stick to the VGA if the differences are only very minimal, and it wouldn't be worth the extra expense? ------------ jtypecav is right... u need an adaptor ;)
Re PQ, I had both and prefer component, the picture looks alot sharper whereas with teh vga it looks kindof 'flat' very much like a pc game.
Although u get a 'bicer' picture with the comp u do notice the jaggies more, but if u can live with that or are not sitting too close to the TV anyway, u should be fine.
Either u wont be dissapointed with whichever u choose. Just my first choice would be components ;)
