comandos voz nokia n95 8gbN95/nokia/ Hello all. I posted on here about 1.5 weeks ago about the volume button on my n95-3 failing. The little silver plastic volume button actually cracked and the button/switch underneath it actually broke away from the circuit board. So I sent the phone to nokia under warranty and they fixed it ( kinda)
I just picked my phone up today. I carefully looked my n95-3 over and guess what, the volume switch has been re-soldered to the circuit board but it does not feel like it should when pressed AND nokia did not fix/replace the cracked volume button. OK,,, at least it works I said to myself.
**** But this is the bad part, there is a obvious fingerprint which is on the camera lens,, not the exposed camera lens but the one that is beneath the exposed lens, WTF!?! I can see the fingerprint no problem and I know for sure it was never there before I sent my phone to nokia. This really pisses me off,, thanks nokia repair service,, great job = NOT.
So what do you all think I should do about the fingerprint on the internal camera lens? What is the best way to deal with this?
Thanks for any response. . ------------ Did YOU send it to Nokia yourself, or did you leave it with the place you bought it from to send it? It doesn't sound as though it's been dealt with by an authorised Nokia repair centre from what you say.
That's an economy repair-job, from what you describe... from the fact that the main lens assembly is marked, it sounds as though the main PCB was removed to resolder the switch, as most of the cost of a repair is labour, I'm very surprised that they didn't just replace the board, far simpler and more enduring than re-soldering a tiny switch to a flow-soldered SMC board!
I'm amazed that the outer mechanical part of the rocker-switch is still cracked... A new back cover, incorporating this is less than 16 dollars retail, it must be virtually a throw-away component to Nokia themselves!
It definitely appears to be a cheaply-done repair... not at all what I would expect from warranty work! ------------ oh yes their service sucks big time.
i went back thrice, and only after the 3rd time did they get it right. my screen emitted a high pitched sound. the first time round they changed the speaker -_-" the second time they changed the microphone (???) -_-" finally they changed the screen and all was gone. of course not without some flame emails on the nokia customer care page.
im not sure if the same applies to the N95-3, but you could try this to clean the internal lens
N95 Tips
if i were you, i'd go back and demand they replace the volume button, irregardless if it works. its still cracked right? thats a physical defect, and technically, its not fixed. ------------ Wow, thats awful! Does it have any effect on photographs? ------------ Yeah, I totally agree with you sp00k. I sent it in myself to the nokia repair center in Huntsville Alabama just as nokia requested. They even sent me a "Official Nokia Repair Ticket" when they sent the phone back to me. On the repair ticket it says and I quote'
" Dear valued customer,
Thank-you for the opportunity to repair your Nokia product and return it to service."
" Most of all, thank-you for the confidence you placed in nokia by purchasing this product. We appreciate your patronage and hope that the quality and speed of our repair services have exceeded your expectations"
Sincerely, Nokia Authorised Service Center.
Yeah, thanks nokia for the half-azz job of fixing my volume button and putting a big fingerprint on the internal optics of my N95-3 camera lens.
I guess I should send some e-mails to nokia customer care like you mentioned harilabubakar and I guess I need to make some phone calls to NOkia customer care as well.
NZtechfreak,, I really don't know how much the fingerprint is going to mess with my photos. It may effect different types of photos more than others I.E. day, night, dusk, macro, landscape, and all the other exposure settings mixed in.
$600 dollar 3 week old faulty phone, faulty and ignored repair service, and they muck up the optics on my phone by leaving a fingerprint on them. What Next?
